** Personal Skegness 'First'


Tropo began here quite abruptly at 10:40 with northern France and coastal Belgium suddenly lifting to fair levels. Several transmitters reached RDS level, most notably the regulars such as Egem, Tournai and Lille.

Holland joined in with some good signals by mid afternoon, but it wasn't until after 20:00 that Germany participated, chiefly with stations from the Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen regions, though Nordrhein Westfalen was also in attendance with some of the more regular transmitters like Teutoburger Wald, Langenburg and Aachen. Virtually all German signals were either weak or very weak/noisy.

Germany had faded by late evening and northern France and coastal Belgium took over once more to round off the day's DX, but even these signals had mostly disappeared by midnight.

I wouldn't say the levels of DX have matched the predicted tropo conditions, certainly not in terms of anticipated signal levels, but hopefully there will be more to come in the next couple of days.
