Heard with back to back music. It's an odd format so this might give it away, knowing the
 approximate reception area.

** Personal Skegness 'First'

An evening of spectacular tropospheric DX to northern Spain and south-west France! Definitely my best to this area so far. Furthest distance was the La Coruna transmitter at 1363 km, not a million miles from the Portuguese border.

There were also LOTS of Spanish stations I couldn't identify due to their brief nature. Beaming south-west in vertical polarisation produces a full band of English stations from the Midlands, so the Spanish stations often had quite a fight on their hands.

I had to be extremely careful how I rotated the antenna too as the neighbour's tree is now greatly restricting movement in that direction. After some minor damage, which has since been rectified, I managed to get the antenna vertical and discovered that this was where the action was. Surprisingly, no Spanish tropo was available when the antenna was horizontal. I wanted to flip back to horizontal later on when I discovered local outlets from Bayonne, but it was the early hours of the morning by that time and the G-5500 rotator makes quite a racket. Sound travels well at night, so I kept the antenna vertical. Horizontal to the south-west is a noisy direction for me anyway so I probably wouldn't have benefited much horizontally anyway. I still don't understand why vertical is much quieter in this direction.

Videos of many of the above catches can be seen on my YouTube page: www.youtube.com/g1vvp

Good DX!
