!! Indicates possible first UK logging

Good conditions to India this evening. My flag was not quite pointing towards India, being at 65 degrees. 90 degrees is what's generally required, so I might be able to peak things up slightly if I reposition the flag.

Worth noting that Saudi Arabia's SBC were playing almost identical flute music to AIR at 1700, so I had to double check some of the loggings to be sure I wasn't receiving Saudi Arabia, but I thought I should log SBC Najran on 747 as I don't see this in the UK All Time Log.

Good DX!

  1. Hi John, Maciek here! I am hooked! Just to round-up what was happening last nights and mornings:
1570 - unid spanish (LatAm or USA) - got a recording for a later review, can you please help?
    972 - Korea
    819 - India
    1098 - China over Slovakia!
1476 - something middleastern, language just like Farsi (Iran)
And i think I'm getting 747 India right now as well, (it's 23h CET) but it would be off its scheduled hours...

    1. Hi Maciek.

Oh yes - this hobby is very addictive! :O) I have been enjoying pulling the Indian transmitters out of the noise levels and the pile-ups. I should produce a video to demonstrate this.

A Latin on 1570. That could be one of many. Radio Bethel from Peru is one of the most commonly received Latin Americans transmitters here in the UK, but there are others. I can have a listen but I am no expert in Spanish, etc. If I can't help I am sure somebody at the RealDX Yahoo Group will be able to. If it's Portuguese, then it could be the Massachusettes station WMVX. They ID as Nossa Radio.

Korea on 972 has been absent here in the last couple of weeks, but sometimes I can just hear their top of the hour time signal in the pile-up.

I couldn't guess who you heard on 1576. MWList says there are two 10kW transmitters of ERTU Quran from Egypt on 1476. There is also a 20kW outlet of Radio Kordestan from Iran on 1476. Maybe them?

Nice work re. China and India. I am also hooked on Asiatic DX. I still have a few files to check from this evening, but these will have to wait until tomorrow.

Looking forward to hearing your 1570 recording.

Best wishes and best DX Maciek. :O)

      John.

  2. Good Morning!
Here is the recording od 1570 at 6:00 CET three days ago: http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/CnH6ZtXx/file.html

At the end it is clearly Spanish "nuestros programmas in vivo..."

  3. Good morning Maciek! :O)

I think this is Radio Bethel from Lima, Peru. I hear the "nuestros programmas en vivo" but that might be a Radio Bethel ID just before. The slogan fits according to this https://twitter.com/bethelradio/status/749821413406679048 and the religious music which precedes this would also fit.

A Spanish speaker would be able to confirm this, but this seems like a 99% certainty.

  4. Peru? Oh my... I can't even... (speechless, fainting)
This is more than I could expect! I was only wishing for it to be at least a hispanic station from the East Coast. Peru? :) I'm over the moon! Thanks for your investigation!!

Two last mornings turned out not as productive - last morning I got 1140, an unid playing melodic music.

And as I'm writing this, I have faint "echo" of multiple CNR-1 on 1494kHz.

    Thanks again!

  5. If you are getting multiple echoes from CNR1 on 1494 then I would say that your receiving setup is working well! You might hear the same CNR1 echo on 1359 too - providing the Hungarian station isn't blocking the frequency.

Regarding Peru on 1570: I'm fairly sure that is Radio Bethel, but you ought to get a confirmation from a Spanish speaker. There are other religious stations in Central and South America which sometimes get through. But the evidence does suggest Radio Bethel. Pity that ID isn't just a little clearer. The slogan fits though.

  6. I managed to make a positive ID of R.Bethel - I recorded their online stream at the exactly the same time I received them. Luckily it was 6:00 CET and what I recorded was thair top-hour ID. The bass beats are the most significant.

That was just to make things 100% clear, but I owe this one to you! As I wrote I would not even consider Peru in "my range" :)

This morning was a nice pay-off for the few recent TA-DX-less ones:
1610 Caribbean Beacon, 1560 Familiy Radio, 1130 WBBR were in, and some weaker ones as well.

  7. That's great! Congratulations! You have done some good detective work there :O)

I'm sure it will not be the last Peruvian station you will log. 1500 and 1540 are two to look out for. Their offsets are the clue!

The last few mornings have been awful here. Very little DX at all. I heard a few North Americans this morning, but they were extremely weak.

    Good DX!

  8. This morning was also splendid here in Poland - quite a number of frequencies active and two new IDs: 590 with VOCM and 1290 Radio Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, which I am very pleased with.

Before TA conditions suspended I did receive something on 1100 playing 90s pop - I id'ed the track (Double You - "Don't go"), but had no luck with a station. Do you have any idea what could it be?

And some new loggings from this evening: 1557 talk in Chinese (there was no music, which would be in favor of the Taiwanese station) and 1566 HLAZ FEBC in Korean - both loud and clear.

I will be very grateful for your comments about the unids:) Thanks, Maciek

  9. Hello Maciek.

    I hope you are well.

Congratulations on those catches! I have been listening here but I haven't heard much at all. Conditions are poor here.

I don't know what your 1100 station will be Sorry. It's a very difficult frequency here so I rarely hear anything there. Nothing immediate comes to mind, especially playing 90s soul. That's an unusual one. WTAM Cleveland is the only think I have heard on 1100 recently, and they are a news/talk station.

South America? I wouldn't have expected any station to be playing such music. Sorry I cannot help you with that one.

  10. Hello John, thanks for your opinion.
I tried to //web WTAM, but there was talking. South America came to my mind a little bit later - R.Globo stream played rather local music. It was Saturday night on the other side of the pond and maybe some station switched to more party-playlist. European pirate is also an idea. I hope to pick that again.

What about 1557 Chinese? Does Taiwan have talk-programmes, contrary to what their name may suggest? Cheers.

  11. Sorry. 1557 would probably be RTI from Kouhu, Taiwan. Unlikely to be anything else with these conditions. Nice catch! :O)
